Lecturer: Veera Efremova – Teacher with more than 50 years of experience, an unrivaled master in teaching Estonian and Russian languages.

Course Purpose:

To improve the knowledge of the Estonian Language, develop writing, reading, listening and speaking skills. Motivate students to communicate in Estonian, use it in various situations, familiarize them with traditions and culture. Participants are placed in a particular group based on a placement test before enrollment.

Course Outline:

Estonian: an A1 foundation course and A2, B1 and B2 exam-preparation courses based on approved curricula. The main study format for A2, B1 and B2 is in-person classroom contact learning. The digital learning environment is used for materials, homework, links, deadlines and support for independent work.


A1 (study program)

At the end of the course the student:

  • understands and uses everyday expressions and very basic phrases to satisfy practical needs;
  • can introduce themselves and others, ask and answer questions about personal details (where they live, people they know, etc.);
  • can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Duration: 160 academic hours (120 contact hours / 40 independent work hours)
Cost: 1440 euro

A2 (study program)

At the end of the course the student:

  • understands short sentences and expressions from everyday life;
  • answers simple questions and directions;
  • masters the initial knowledge of language and culture;
  • uses initial training skills to learn the language of category B1;
  • understands the most important information on a familiar topic.
Duration: 200 academic hours (150 contact hours / 50 independent work hours)
Cost: 1800 euro

B1 (study program)

At the end of the course the student:

  • understands the most important information on a familiar topic;
  • can describe events, dreams, and goals and briefly argue them, explain their position and plans;
  • can compose small texts on a familiar topic;
  • understands important information on a familiar topic, the main content of radio and television programs, and phone calls;
  • is able to write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, describing experiences and impressions.
Duration: 260 academic hours (180 contact hours / 80 independent work hours)
Cost: 2160 euro

B2 (study program)

At the end of the course the student:

  • understands the content and meaning of complex texts;
  • can compose an abstract, review, conclusion;
  • is able to present their opinion on a professional subject in writing and orally;
  • can explain their point of view and identify strengths and weaknesses.
Duration: 450 academic hours (300 contact hours / 150 independent work hours)
